#9 Ascension : CampFire 2k14

In 2013, I started a club named Ascension in my college (S.G.S.I.t.S.) for mountaineering and trekking activities in the city of Indore, India. After continued efforts, our first trip named CampFire 2k14 was organised on 13th & 14th of September,2014.

CampFire 2k14 took place in Kala Kund which is a place with unimaginable scenic beauty fairly close to the city of Indore. The simplest way to reach Kala Kund is to go by train. You can board the train at Indore Railway station and reach Kala Kund within 3hrs. The length of the railway track is fairly less (50km) but it takes pretty long to reach there because the train runs on a metre guage line and the train stops at every small railway station. But believe me Kala Kund is worth the wait.

There is a camping ground at Kala Kund owned by Bharat Scout & Guide.You can book it for a nominal fee from their office in Indore. Around the camping ground lies ample of beautiful streams, waterfalls, forests and everything else a person can ask for during a trip (except snow :P). You will seldom catch a signal on your cell phone.

If you want to enjoy scenic beauty, you don't have to go north and spend lots of cash. Our trip included 2days 1 night accommodation, food, safety equipment, and all other requisites. And it costed us just 500Rs(10$) per head!! :P

I've been getting a lot of questions from people about which laptop they should get. Now this totally depends on what your budget is. Here, I have picked the laptops suitable for every budget. Also, all of these laptops are hybrid machines suitable for all environments i.e gaming, programming,etc. Yu may find a laptop which is low in price but has an i7 processor. #6 Dreams

We all dream. Those who say they do not dream just aren't able to remember their dreams. Most of our dreams are greatly influenced by the things that occur with us. Like if you are reading a book or watching a movie, your dream maybe about the main character of that story line. Same logic applies to games as well..
It can be very helpful for you to dream. I, myself make effective use of my dreams during my exams or tests. I go through the stuff that I've read in my dreams and strengthen my memorizing skills.

However, this post is about another thing. I was recently thinking about the various strange dreams that I have and i thought maybe I can compile them into a story and form a book! And that is exactly what I did.

Its 19th of May! The birthday of my favorite toy i.e. The Rubik's Cube!!

Its one of the most famous toys of the world. Many of us have spent tons of hours trying to figure out how to solve it. However,  it is a mathematical puzzle and an algorithm must be followed to know how to solve it.
There are several benefits of practicing rubik's cube solution. It improves your memorizing power which can help you with your daily tasks.

Once you have figured out how to solve the typical 3X3 Rubik's cube, you can practice and check the minimum time in which you can solve it! You can compete with friends, participate in competitions and what not! Its a whole new world!!

If you have mastered the 3X 3 Rubik's Cube, You can go for solving it with a blindfold and push your brain to its limits of memorization! If you are done with that, you can go for the Shengshou mirror cube or the $X$ Rubik's Cube. If you enter this world, i assure you that you would not want to go back. You would dream of the cube, your hands would move on their own and its an amazing feeling! It indeed is one of the coolest toys ever :-).

#2 Similarities between Greek & Indian Mythology :

As children, we all have loved the Greek Gods and desired to have power like them. We've played games like God of War & Titan Quest. We've read books like The Percy Jackson series. We've watched movies like Wrath of the Titans, Percy Jackson, etc.

Meanwhile, in India, the Hindus have got Gods of their own. The children in India are taught about their Gods when they're kids and when they grow up and come to know about the Greek Gods, they start wondering if the two deities are one and the same thing!

I did some research and found some really interesting facts.

1. You must all be familiar with
Zeus, the King of Mt. Olympus. The god of Thunder & Lightening.


Similarly, the Hindus have Indra, the king of the Swargalok (Heaven) and God of thunder & rain.

2. The three major Gods in Greek Mythology namely, Zeus - Father of all men and Gods, Poseidon - God of the sea residing in the city of Atlantis and Hades - God of the underworld.

Similarly, in Hindu mythology, they have three higher Gods, namely Brahma - creator of eveything, Vishnu - The God who lives in the Sea and Mahesh- The God of death or the Destroyer.

There are so many similarities between creature, myths, Gods, demigods and other things that makes us wonder, " What if the two cultures used to be one and the same thing? If yes, what was the reason they became different? Was Greek connected to India in the past?"

All of these questions shall be answered in a series of episodes soon to be posted on my Youtube channel about which you will be informed through future posts.

#1 : PM candidates Lok Sabha elections of 2014

The Indians are confused about whom to elect as the person to lead their nation.

There are two major candidates for this position.
1. Mr. Narendra Modi                                                                           2. Mr Rahul Gandhi   

Mr. Modi, a member of the RSS since childhood, believes that the major problem our country faces is lack of development and not religious discrimination. On the other hand, Mr. Gandhi, who belongs to one of the richest families in the world, i.e. The Gandhi family, puts emphasis on the fact that the Muslims in India would never want Mr. Modi to be the PM of the country. He claims to be a down to earth person even though he has been travelling in Private Jets since he had not even grown teeth :-P.

Although Mr. Modi's strategies are more desirable for the nation, it cannot be denied that BJP is a party that supports and considers Hinduism as one of the reasons for their success. BJP candidates burn massive amounts of Ghee(Indian version of Butter) in Yagyas (Worshipping fire) for their victory. Wheather they win or not is , however, is an entirely different story.

Lets wait and see whom the people of India want as their leader as the results of the elections are declared this May!!
